Guest Speaker: Denton Florian, Member

Topic: Discussion of Texas History and his Documentary on Sam Houston

Denton will discuss some of the myths and legends about the Alamo, what was happening at this time during the Texas Revolution, and some specifics about the making of his documentary on Sam Houston that was broadcast on PBS.
 

Denton Florian is the Executive Producer and Director of the acclaimed documentary Sam Houston: American Statesman, Soldier, and Pioneer (2013), the first comprehensive film to chronicle the life of the legendary Texas figure. The 2-hour 51-minute documentary, produced by Silver Rock Productions, features in-depth interviews with historians, biographers, and descendants, and was filmed across 31 locations in four states. It has won five EMMY Awards and received official recognition from the Texas House, Senate, and Governor for excellence in historical education.
