Tim Cannon is currently serving as the Director of Law Enforcement Training at The University of Houston Downtown Law Enforcement Academy training cadets to become future law enforcement officers.
Tim has been married to Terri for 25 years and lives in Conroe. Their one son, Branden, serves as a Crime Scene Investigator (CSI) for Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
Director Cannon is Multi-faceted Servant Leader with more than 38 years of experience in public safety, Emergency Management, Crime prevention, Officer training, senior management, and program leadership skills. He believes wholeheartedly in servant leadership and a man who firmly believes in God first, my family and always being a strong advocate of the community in which he serves.
Throughout his professional life, he has leveraged his skills in leadership and training including investigations, patrol, administration, and community engagement to tackle crime reduction and case management. Having started his career as a deputy with Harris County, he quickly moved up the ranks through supervisory positions at the corporal, sergeant, lieutenant, captain, asst. chief, chief deputy and Major of Administration. He acquired experience in divisions such as traffic investigations and criminal investigations and has worked on multiple homicide and other major investigations. Tim has also provided and procured Executive Protection to high level government employees and Politicians.
His progression culminated in his appointment as the Chief Deputy of the Harris County Sheriff's Office in 2015, reporting directly to the Sheriff and served as the Major/number 3 Administrative position for the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. Tim possesses a steadfast dedication to his work, devoting more than the required hours of work, pursuing department excellence and remaining on call virtually 24 hours a day.
