Truluck's provides our breakfast!  100% of the funds will go directly to The Maverick Care Center. We hope you will join us for a meaningful morning as we raise awareness and critical funds for this important community- and education-focused program.

The Rotary Club of The Woodlands is privileged to host a Breakfast at Truluck's - The Woodlands on Wednesday, May 6, 2026.  The event will honor Kristin Marlow and the Montgomery County Food Bank and benefit Lone Star College's Maverick Care Center.

Breakfast is $50/person; Rotary Club of The Woodlands member is $35/person.
Can't make the breakfast, there's also a "Donate" button to support the students

Dr. De’Reese Reid-Hart – President, Lone Star College Montgomery will be the keynote speaker.

The Maverick Care Center supports students in need by providing essential resources, including a food pantry, clothing closet, and access to valuable campus and community support services.

Below is information on the food demands only for these students and does not address the growing need for professional attire required for job interviews.

Thanks to Truluck's generosity 100% of the funds raised at the Breakfast will go toward Lone Star College's Maverick Care Center for food, shelving for hygiene products (very small section now with big demand) and mannequins for displaying the professional attire.

The Rotary Club of The Woodlands has a long history of partnering with Lone Star College with scholarships, mock interviews, etc. and are stepping up to the dire need of these students.

Data for the Maverick Care Center:

A comparison of February 2025 and February 2026 food assistance visits at Maverick Care Center shows a substantial increase in demand:
  • The average daily visits rose from 13.94 in 2025 to 33.38 in 2026.
  • The median number of visits also increased from 12 to 33, while the most frequent daily value (mode) rose from 12 visits to 35 visits.
  • Additionally, the minimum daily visits increased from 2 to 24, suggesting that food assistance demand became consistently higher throughout the month.
  • In March 2026, we have already had a couple of days with 50 student/employee food visits per day (during a 3-hour open window of service).  One food visit takes 10 - 30 minutes.
  • The Maverick Care Center anticipates March 2026 and April 2026 to be our busiest months in Spring 2026 based on last year's data.
  • Food Items Distributed in Feb 2025: 1835
  • Food Items Distributed in Feb 2026: 5438
In addition to an increase in average food visits per day - Feb 2025 to Feb 2026, we have seen an increase in total visits which has resulted in much more inventory needing to be moved into the center to then distribute to the students each month.  This translates into more staffing hours needed to secure, process, and organize product, as well as collect data during the check-out process with each visitor for data reports to various partners and grants.
